Sauna heat recovery for commercial use

FS units - Heat recovery for your sauna by Fire & Ice

A simple step towards environmental protection. With our ecological sauna heat recovery, you reduce your heating costs and relieve your sauna heater at the same time. The fresh air, which contains approx. 21 percent oxygen, is preheated in the heat exchanger by a counterflow process with the exhaust air. This saves you about 20kWh/m² a year in heating costs. This corresponds to about ...€ per year in your conventional sauna system.

Heat recovery

By using the heat exchanger, the fresh air supplied is preheated from the exhaust air to up to 95% of the room temperature. This reduces the effort and costs for heating up to the desired temperature of the sauna system. This relieves the sauna heater. This leads to a longer service life, reduced maintenance costs and protects the environment.

The outside air drawn in is drawn through a filter into the heat exchanger, where it is preheated by the exhaust air, which is also filtered, and fed into the sauna through the fan. In the opposite direction, the exhaust air is drawn into the fan through the coarse filter of class G3 (filter class F7 or F9 on request) and from there blown outwards through the counterflow plate heat exchanger in an environmentally friendly manner. The resulting condensate is collected at the lowest point of the exhaust air side of the heat exchanger and discharged into a syphon.

Advantages of heat recovery

Advantages at a glance:
- Energy saving
- Environmental protection
- Relief for the sauna heater

Heat exchanger

The heat exchanger is installed in boxes made of robust, galvanised 1 mm thick sheet steel. It consists of a two-walled box made of completely corrosion-resistant aluminium, between which 22 mm thick PUR insulation is placed.
During installation, it must be ensured that the condensate drain is fitted on the exhaust air side, as the condensate cannot be drained off.

Fan boxes

The fans are integrated in sound- and heat-insulated boxes made of 1 mm thick galvanised sheet steel. The fans are installed in the boxes in such a way that the air flow can be directed axially or by 90° as required. The unused air supply is firmly closed with a flap. The boxes cannot be opened. The efficiency of the commutated motor is not less than 75%, and is of vibration-free design.

Filter box

The filters of the WRG consist of a double-walled housing insulated with 22mm PUR. They are housed in robust boxes (1 mm thick, galvanised sheet steel). The filter boxes are equipped with class G3 bag filters (coarse filters) as standard. On request, fine filters up to filter class F9 or activated carbon filters can also be fitted. As supply air filters, the boxes are installed directly in front of the heat exchanger. On the extract air side, the filter is placed in front of all other modules to prevent their contamination.

Flexible connection pipe

The flexible connection pieces consist of two connector nipples on both sides, which are made of galvanised sheet steel with rubber lip seals. Two hose clamps connect the flexible hose made of fabric to the connector nipples. The connection is additionally sealed with adhesive tape.
The flexible connection pieces serve to decouple the sound of the complete system, as no structure-borne sound can be transmitted through the flexible hose. They are mounted on the suction and pressure side of the fans. They also compensate for mounting tolerances.

Connector nipple

Connector nipples of the commercially available spiral duct system are used to connect the individual modules.
